Flu Shot Fever

I don't understand what the deal is with flu shots. I've never had one and I rarely get the flu. Now, perhaps I can understand the elderly or infirm getting flu shots.

I think they might not understand that sitting in a line in the rain for 2.5 hours for FLU SHOTS is, well, stupid. Let me repeat that, don't sit in the rain in the cold weather as a preventative measure against the flu.

This has been a public service announcement.

Dead Computer

Sorry for the lack of action here. My T40 died last weekend. Not that I can't post from a variety of other places, but the enormous disruption has completely changed my communication habits. I have to use generically configured desktops at school, fight with the variety of separate email accounts I manage, do without mobile internet access, etc. etc. Its a real hassle.

On the other hand, I've taken this opportunity to create a detailed account of the service that I've experienced from the school's computer store. For starters, I wasn't pleased to find out that it took 1 week before they even looked at the machine. Then I really got miffed that they ignored my initial brilliance in diagnosing a hardware problem (the machine crashes when you move or shake it). Only after several failed attempts to upgrade the BIOS, did they send it to IBM.

Argh.

To be continued...

Politics? Topics? News? Oh My!

One of my favorite bloggers, Jeff Jarvis, has begun his own campaign/protest against the campaigns. He has gone so far as to start discussions about topics. (Gasp!)

Please, go agree/disagree with him. What I really love about his blog is his view on the dynamics of media. If you are already a fan, you understand that the topical discussions he is kicking off are merely punctuation on his philosophy about media.

Martha Martha Martha

The fact that Martha Stewart is electing to go to jail sooner rather than later is a signal that she plans on returning to the public eye in some manner after her parole. Fascinating, huh? She's probably already planning the "triumphant return". May I suggest some other celebrities to confer with? Here, here, here, here, and these.

Mobile Phone Pricing Quirks

I think this is what happens when sophisticated pricing models contradict common business-sense. I actually think that the phone companies probably know what they are doing here.
